We find sometimes the best solution is a combination of both. 3D scanning is a great way to capture large, physical assets such as mining equipment or power plant sites. 3D scanning is also great for capturing small, detailed objects such as shoes or food. The limitation to 3D scanning it that the scanned model is output as a single object, with no moving parts. This means if we scan a car, we are unable to turn/spin the wheels. To solve for this we can delete the wheels from the 3D scan and replace we 3D modeled wheels which can turn/spin. So, the difference to 3D scanning is that when we 3D model objects we are able to add parts that move and spin such as interactive buttons, spinning wheels and animated flapping wings.
